Lydia studied at the London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA). She was an Artist in Residence for the New Generation Festival 2019 in Florence and for the Tiapapata Art Centre, Samoa, 2019. She was a tutor at LARA, and currently is a contributing tutor at Raw Umber Studios, Stroud and College Arts, Hampshire.

She takes portrait, figurative and still life commissions and is currently represented by Cicek Gallery.

Lydia’s work is representational, based on studies from life. She delves into the character of a portrait sitter, arranges contemporary still lives, and uses the alternating backdrops of the UK and Malta for her figurative work. These works capture ordinary, unscripted moments with an originality away from idealisation or objectification.

She also goes by the name Lydia Tanti Burlὸ.
